It looks like Sony is already engaged on the Xperia Pill Z2, which could be launched beautiful quickly. Because of @evleaks, we already have some rumored hardware and it looks pretty real, though the display’s resolution or 1920×1200 is quite low for a 2014 high-end tablet.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 should come with a 2.3 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, expandable through a microSD card, an 8MP primary camera and a 2MP frontal one, a 6,000 mAh battery, Android 4.4 KitKat and it will be 6.4mm thick.
It’s 10.1-inch Triluminos display is rumored to have a 1920×1200 resolution, though we expected it to be a bit higher (2,560×1,600) and we aren’t very sure this is going to be true. The Xperia Tablet Z2 will also probably be waterproof and dust-resistant, just like the older version.
Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z2 is probably going to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Pro and Apple iPad Air on the high-end market, but we expect it to come cheaper than the Tab Pro, due to its specs. The major difference between the Tablet Z2 and Tab Pro is that the latter has only 2GB of RAM, a 2,560×1,600 display and a 8,220 mAh battery.
If The Xperia Tablet Z2 will come at the same price as the Tab Pro, we don’t expect it to sell very well, because the superior display and 2,220 extra mAh are definitely more important than an extra gigabyte of RAM.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 release date is expected to be February 24th at Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, which is just a week away. A lot of new Android smartphones and tablets should be released at MWC this year, so we’re expecting other similar tablets from other manufacturers too.
