CES 2014 is currently live in Las Vegas and the big players of the tech industry are unveiling their latest products during the US-based tech fair. Besides unveiling the new Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, the Koreans also introduced three new tablets belonging to the Galaxy Tab family, namely Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, and Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, which come with 12.2, 10.1, and 8.4 inch displays, respectively.
All four new tablets introduced by Samsung come with WQXGA displays (2560 x 1600 pixels) and all come with loads of free goodies offered for free by the Korean company. Samsung said that the gift package is worth more than $ 700 and, among others, contains 1 TB of Bitcasa storage for 3 months, 1 year subscription to Business Week, 3 months of LinkedIn Premium Membership, and 6 month of LiveSport.tv free subscription.
Let’s have a look at the technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2. The new Samsung tablet boasts about a 12.2-inch WQXGA (2560 X 1600) Super clear LCD display, which, unlike the one of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is not compatible with an S Pen stylus. The device is running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UI on top of it and it’s available with WiFi-only, WiFi+3G, and WiFi+LTE connectivity.
The WiFi+3G model is powered by the octo-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset developed internally by the Korean company, consisting of a quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex A15 CPU for the tasks that require more processing power and a quad-core low-energy 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 CPU for the basic tasks. On the other hand, the LTE-enabled model comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 SoC with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 also arrives with 3 GB RAM and two camera sensors, an 8 MP shooter on the back with LED flash, and a 2 MP unit in the front, useful for selfies and video calls.
Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 has 32/64 GB of internal storage and microSD support (up to 64 GB). The new slate measures 295.6 x 204 x 7.95mm and weighs 732 grams. The LTE and 3G variants are a bit more heavier, weighing 740 grams.
A 9,500 mAh battery is keeping the tablet alive, while the connectivity features include LTE: 800/900/1800/2600+850/2100; 3G : HSPA+ 21 850/900/1900/2100, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 and 5GHz, IR blaster, and microUSB 3.0.
