Verizon is now pushing out the Android 4.4 OTA update for Droid Ultra, Droid Max and Droid Mini. It’s not surprising anymore to hear that Verizon is updating its devices to Android 4.4, after the Big Red was the first US carrier to roll out the KitKat software update for the Moto X. Therefore, if you happen to own one of the there Droid smartphones you should keep your eyes on the notifications are.
As usual, the Android 4.4 OTA update for Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini is being rolled out in stages, so you might not hit your device right away. Did the Android 4.4 system update notification popped out on your device? If the answer is no, then you know the drill: head to Settings > About phone > Software updates and tap on the Check now button and this might bring the update on your device. If this doesn’t work either, it could mean that you will have to wait a few more days.
After you download and install the Android 4.4 KitKat OTA update you will be able to enjoy enhancements of the ISIS Wallet app, the new full-screen immersive mode, SMS/MMS integration with the Hangouts app, location and gif sharing through Hangouts, emoji, full-screen music and video art in lock screen, and Camera app improvements, including touch to focus.
The new firmware will also update some of the pre-loaded apps and some of the Verizon-specific apps, including Verizon Mobile Security, Verizon Tones, Amazon Kindle, Audible, Quick Office, and Motorola Assist. Furthermore, Google Photos is now pre-loaded.
