After about a week ago C Spire released the Android 4.3 OTA update for Samsung Galaxy S4, the US-based carrier is now pushing Android 4.3 to the Samsung Galaxy S3 owners. The Jelly Bean-flavoured update will be warmly welcomed by the Galaxy S3 owners who haven’t been able to update their smartphone since Android 4.1.2.
Because the Korean company introduced a new smartwatch in September and because they want to sell it to the Galaxy S4, Note 2, and S3 owners, the new Android 4.3 update includes Galaxy Gear compatibility.
Aside of that you will get performance improvements, Galaxy S4-like UI elements, tabbed interface for the Settings Menu, TRIM support, new lockscreen with multiple widgets, the S Voice from S4, move-to-SD-card feature, updated GPU drivers, and other such goodies.
According to the changelog posted on Samsung’s website the Android 4.3 update for C Spire Samsung Galaxy S3 also brings PEN. UP, Group Play 2.5, improved Multi Window (from Note 3), New Easy Mode, Sound and Shot mode for the Camera app, Samsung Link is now pre-loaded, and other bug fixes and improvements.
The Android 4.3 update for C Spire Samsung Galaxy S3 is labelled L710WWAMK4 and it’s rolling out in stages, so you might not be able to download and install it right away. Did you receive the system update notification? If not, you know the drill. Go to Settings > About Phone > System update and hit the Check for updates button to perform a manual check. Still no result? I’m sorry to disappoint you, but you will have to wait a few more days.
Did any of you receive the Android 4.3 update? I’m looking at you C Spire Galaxy S3 owners.
