Samsung started to push out the official PXXUBMG8 Android 4.2.2 firmware build for the Galaxy S2 I9105 smartphone. This means that this is the first device released by Samsung in 2012 which gets the first official update to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 before the other Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 models.
The first country to receive the update is Germany and it can be flashed via Samsung KIES. The OTA version should hit devices soon.
With Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update installed on your Galaxy S2 Plus you will get tons of new features and functions. From now on your will be able to use almost the same tweaks of TouchWiz Nature UX interface from the Samsung Galaxy S4, you can add lock screen widgets, use Daydream screensaving tool, expandable notifications, better Google Now, better S Voice, actionable toggles, more stable Wi-Fi connectivity etc.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OTA Update for Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus I9105 comes with the build number of PXXUBMG8. Connect your device with your PC, run Samsung KIES and then check for new updates. Wait several minutes for the installation to complete and then reboot the Galaxy S2 Plus. Test all the new features and tell us how’s your phone working with the new Android 4.2.2 PXXUBMG8 firmware.
There is no official word on the release of this new OTA Update for Galaxy S3 nor Galaxy Note 2. Samsung Galaxy S2 original model owners might not be that happy that the Plus variant has received the update, while their models will stay on an older Android firmware. However, Samsung might surprise everyone and release the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OTA Update for their first Galaxy S2 model.
Note that Samsung KIES will install the PXXUBMG8 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OTA Update only for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus phones that are running stock Android 4.1.2 firmware. So, you won’t be able to update your device if it’s currently running a custom ROM. At the moment the update is only available in Getmany, but other countries should receive it soon.
Keep an eye on our web site as we will post a working tutorial for users of Galaxy S2 Plus that did not get this new official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update. If you did get the update, then tell us in comments if your device runs better with it and if there are any improvements added for the phone’s battery life.
